
Automation System Project
This project focus on designing a Pick and Place unit. This unit is to pick up a Steel Ball from indexing unit at position A to position B.
Duration: 6 Months
Task is to design a
• support bracket that holds the steel ball firmly.
• diameter 160mm round baseplate that carry 4 support brackets
All support brackets and round baseplate are assembled using metal fastener.
A. Gripper sub-assembly
• A gripper fingers that pick, hold, and place the steel ball
• Mounting brackets that hold the standard cylinders
• Profiles and profile bases for the cylinder
• Sensor bracket one
B. Container sub-assembly
• Container for collecting the steel ball (height=100mm)
• Container base plate
• Sensor bracket two
C. Overall base sub-assembly
• An overall base plate that can hold the pick and place gripper sub-assembly, indexing unit and container sub-assembly.
• Include four levelling feet to stabilize any system onto any floor
• Include two handles
• Recommend two sensors at position A and B that can detect the steel ball
Important: All parts in your design must be low-cost and always have minimum number of components.
a) Sketch (with dimension) all critical components, such as gripper design, containers and etc
b) 3D model for all parts
c) Insert into assembly, iam and label with balloon
d) Create Bill of Material, xlsx
e) Create all fabricated parts into i.dwg with proper dimensioning.
